Steamed Chocolate Moist Cake

Was looking for this recipe in my emails and finally found it just in time for the fasting month.  What I liked about this cake is that it does not require backing.  Steaming a cake makes it even more moist.

Enjoy:

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup chocolate milk

1 cup oil
3/4 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
1 1/4 cup wheat flour
1 tea spoon soda bicarbonate
1 tea spoon backing powder
3 eggs

PREPARATIONS:
Shift flour, soda bicarbonate and baking powder.
Mix cocoa powder, brown sugar, milk, condensed milk in a pot and heat on small fire until all ingredients are well mixed.  Turn off the fire.
Beat eggs until foamy and pour into the cocoa mix.
Pour the shifted flour little by little and mix well.
Pour into mould that has been greased or covered with cooking paper.
Cover the mould with aluminium foil and steam for 1 hour in a preheated whatchamacallit.
Place on rack and let chill.

ICING:1 cup cocoa powder
1 cup milk or yoghurt

1/2 cup condensed milk
3 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon butter
11 tablespoon corn flour

PREPARATIONS:
Mix all the ingredients in a pot.
Mix well and heat on small fire.

Continue mixing until mixture becomes thick.
Layer on top of chilled cake.

The One With The HASTA LUEGO

Lately I found myself in a serious case of self pity or depression or sadness or whatever you may wish to label it.
Basically, it's a condition where I just do not have any enthusiasm to do anything.
And I lack greatly the will power to care.
All I want to do is lay in bed or remain locked indoors.

Alas, I'm unable to remain shut from society.
Even online I'm surrounded by people.
As such, I've taken the decision to deactivate my Facebook account until a later date.
I've also decided to be less of a socialite and be more of a parasite to my own self.

So, if I tell you that I do not wish to hang with my usual group of friends, do not take it the wrong way.
I just don't feel like doing anything.
I won't take it the wrong way either if you lot decide to make plans and not invite me.
Even if you do, I would most probably say "No."

Why even bother?

So, until I feel like it . . .
HASTA LUEGO.

The One With An Old Blog From 2008

I found this old blog that I posted sometime in 2008 in another blog site.  I think it's worth another reposting here.
ENJOY.

Well, it’s mid January 2008.  And as I recall back the last entry I wrote (note: August 8th, 2007), I am reminded how chaotic the past year has been.

Not going into details of everything that’s happened in 2007.  Those of you who know me know that I have the equivalent memory of that of your typical Carassius auratus, or goldfish.

Things I’ve found out in 2007 (the ones I can still remember):
  • Cats are not as smart as they are claimed to be.  As a matter of fact, cats have temporary memories, meaning that they will forget their physical surroundings if you place an obstacle in their usual path.  Therefore, question what you have been taught.  And find the truth behind everything that the world has pushed unto you.
  • Relatives will take advantage of you if you place too much trust in them.  Friends will die for you if you do the same (true friends, mind you).
  • A lie among friends is never that simple.  It can cause even the best of friends to question the trust built with each other.  Especially if there are two dear friends involved.
  • Never let authority dictate how your life should be.  You are your own individual.  Question authority and challenge what life has to offer.
  • Trust what your heart has to say.  It will be your best guide to achieving your greatest desires.  But listen carefully.  Don’t be misconstrued by what it has to say.  Decyhpher its secrets to know what it whispers.
  • Do NOT take dreams literally.  Not all dreams are as they appear.  Most often than not, dreams tell of the opposite of what they show.  Again, listen to your heart to know what the dreams are telling you.
  • Open up.  Don’t let your woes, your sorrow, your anguish build up within you.  The poison they accumulate will be your undoing.  Trust a friend, a relative or even a complete stranger with some of your problems.  It will dilute much of your negativity.
  • Share food with friends.  Simple act of bonding goes a long way, especially when you find out that what you ordered isn’t the same as what you had been told by the waiter.  I mean, honestly!  When a waiter says a small salad, tell him to explain it in human proportions, not that of an elephant!
  • Be cheap.  Do NOT lend money to friends. . . EVER!  That will be a catalyst to arguments and an eventual downfall of relationships.  Same applies to relatives.  And if you owe anyone money, PAY UP!
  • Believe in yourself.  Trust in your better judgment, regardless if others say otherwise.  After all, you are where you are now because of the choices YOU made.
  • If you are single, don’t go looking for love.  Don’t be a"Desperado".  Be patient.  Love will come finding for you, in the most unexpected of ways.  And once it does, you’ll appreciate it even more.  Oh, and as a dear friend once told me (many times), "If he/she isn’t replying to your glances, move on.  There’s someone else waiting for you to catch their eye."
  • Send a simple Birthday Wish.  It’s the small things that you do for someone that makes them know that they still hold a place in your heart.  Go ahead and make someone feel special.  I became great friends with someone after I  said "Wow, that’s hot" when she asked me what I thought of her highlights.  Of course, I don’t remember, but she did.
  • Go shoe-shopping.  Do it with a friend, a relative, a loved one.  The times you spend with them on the smallest of adventures will help you learn more about each other.
  • Teach someone something new.  It will last them a lifetime.  And they’ll remember that you thought them a valuable lesson - even if it’s how to tell if the shoe you want to buy is made in Argentina or elsewhere (Note: Buy the one made elsewhere).
  • Don’t limit yourself to the few friends you have.  Go forth and find new friends. You never know who you will meet.  And don’t be afraid to find them in the strangest of places.  (Note: The internet is godsend.)
  • Venture streets unexplored.  Go walk unfamiliar streets.  You will find the most pleasant of surprises.
  • Careful of words spoken.  Choose your words carefully.  People might use it against you, or they might twist the words to hurt you.  If the pen is mightier than the sword, then let your words by your shield and your dagger.
  • Watch television, but don’t let it control your time.  Be outside of the house more.  Carpe diem.  You’ll never get that day back.
  • For the guys:  Be a gentleman.  Show the lady that chivalry still exists.  A simple act of opening a door and letting them through, or walking between her and the road, or waiting for her to seat before you do will let her see you in a totally different light.
  • For the ladies:  Don’t assume he knows what you are thinking.  Because he doesn’t.  Tell him.  And just because he is quiet and seems distant, doesn’t mean that he doesn’t have you in his mind.
I’m sure there’s more of life’s lessons I’ve learned in 2007.  But the above are the ones I can remember today.  Thank you to all who made my 2007 a memorable one - in all the bad and all the good.
And on a final note, I wish to just add this:  "Multilateralism does not work over night.  It requires many years of discussions, dedication, hard work, and stubbornness to see any tinkle of a positive progression."

Well, boys and girls, I for one, am not known for my patience.

So bugger off!

The One With The Reason I'm Fat
